How to Tie the Palomar knot
Six short steps. Wet the line before you cinch it down and give it a firm tug to test it.
- Double about 6 inches of line and pass the loop through the hook eye.
- Tie a loose overhand knot with the doubled line, leaving the hook hanging at the bottom of the loop.
- Pull the loop of line far enough to go over the hook completely.
- Slide the loop over the hook and past the eye.
- Wet the line, then pull both the main line and tag end to cinch it down.
- Trim the tag end to about 1/8 inch.
Tip: Keep the two strands parallel and never twisted. It works well with braid.
