Local tips
- Seneca rarely freezes, so winter fishing from a boat is possible; Severne Point is listed by DEC as a good winter launch.
- In summer, lake trout and salmonids stack around the thermocline at roughly 60 to 125 ft, so use downriggers or heavy jigs.
- The lake is 38 miles long and only about 3 miles wide; a north or south wind builds big waves fast.
